This business originally started out as “The Trading Post” in 1949. Truly this business was built during a great time of expansion in Alaska. Currently the building is 88 years old and is in the historic waterfront downtown of Ketchikan, Alaska. In 1993 a local family purchased the business and re-established the organization as “J&M Jewelry”. In early 2003 Alaska Trading Company was born. Harvey and Rhonda Smith took over the operation and renamed the store to Alaska Trading Company. The store is open a full twelve months a year. The owners spend the winters traveling around the state and are always looking for more unique, authentic native art to incorporate with their expanding inventory. This is a genuine Alaskan store full of experience. |
